U-12.  Kanturk 2 – Carrigaline 2.

Last Saturday kanturk u-12’s played carrigaline in the league and were unlucky not to take all three points and had to settle for a draw after a very entertaining game.  Kanturk played great football and passed the ball around and were really enjoying themselves. Carrigaline were also playing nice football both teams had chances to score. Kanturk took the lead in the 14th. Minute when left back Rian Carroll cleared a ball from defence and set Liam O’Brien free and he beat his man and the advancing goalie to open the scoring. Kanturk were on top and kept creating chances but failed to add to their tally and right on half time Carrigaline equalised. Kanturk were unlucky as the Carrigaline goal scorer came from an offside position to get the ball and the Referee failed to see this and waved play on. The second half was similar to the first with Kanturk on top and creating chances and Carrigaline defending in numbers. Ten minutes into the half Kanturk got their second goal. Liam O’Brien, who was having a great game on the left wing, picked up a ball in his own half and attacked down the left. He beat his man and crossed to Mikey Sexton who finished to the net with style. Carrigaline upped their game and started to get on top but the Kanturk defence held firm and with Evan Murphy and Aaron Shine dominating the centre and Rian Carroll playing well at left back Kanturk held their lead. Carrigaline  got their equaliser with just 3 minutes left when a high hopeful ball bounced favourably for the Carrigaline centre forward and he put the ball past Cathal Field in the Kanturk goal. Disappointment for Kanturk but they played lovely football. It was a team effort from start to finish and all 14 players on the panel played their part. Their were a number of outstanding performances notably from Liam O’Brien, Barry Murphy, Jordan Corkery in the midfield and Mickey Sexton up front with Evan Murphy and Aaron Shine shining at the back. Team panel on the day was; Cathal Field, James Buckley, Rian Carroll, Evan Murphy, Aaron Shine, Diarmuid O’Connor, Barry Murphy, Jordan Corkery, Liam O’Brien, Mickey Sexton, Ross Kiely, William Madigan, Joe Murray and Jack Nugent. Well done all.
