Fresh from our opening day win over Innishvilla, Kanturk AFC travelled the short distance to Mallow for a Tuesday evening fixture.
The referee had barely blown his whistle when the Mallow net billowed as our lads opened their account in the first minute. Conan with a beautifully weighted pass to set up Scott who finished with aplomb.
The game continued in the same vein, Kanturk opening up their bewildered opponents at will, creating chance after chance, with brilliant runs from deep from Blake and Ruari and Conan, only to be denied from an excellent Mallow keeper.
Our boys were not for turning tho, and eventually the onslaught told with our second, third and fourth goals coming in quick succession. Scott bagging his second on the night after 5 mins, assisted by the assist king Blake, who for the record, assisted the third of night when Conan opened his account. Jack Gayer joined in on the goalscoring act when Conan turned provider for Jack who got the green hoops 4th goal after only 15 minutes of mesmerising football.
Mallow did manage to pull one back before halftime with a well taken effort, but our boys were well in control as the first half concluded.
Indeed, it was Mallow who grabbed their second of the night to make it more of a contest but our boys upped the ante and played some wonderful football and added three further goals to our tally without reply.
On 39 mins Scott, again scored to put us firmly back in control, Jack Gayer providing a lovely assist.
Scott then unbelievably gobbled up his fourth goal when he finished a flowing move, again assisted by his wingman Blake. Four goals for Scott and yes Four assists for Blake.
The goalscoring wasn't finished there, as our boys were relentless, adding a seventh on the night with Blake capping off a fine performance and putting his name to the scoresheet. This time it was Brian with the assist.
Hats off the our defence of; Patryk between the sticks, a back line of Gavin, Peter, Jack D and Oisin. They defended brilliantly and can I also give a shout out to Luke D, who came on and doubled down on the hard work.
In midfield; Brian, Conan, Ruari and Jack G were fantastic in breaking up play, but also in creating a platform for our forwards of Blake and Scott to flourish.
Cian, Nathan, Arsenii when brought on in midfield more than held their own and contributed no end to the Kanturk cause.
Luke W ran tirelessly when he arrived on upfront and created lots of chances for our boys.
All in all, a great start to the league campaign.
