A very early start for our U11 boys today, a long away trip for a top of the table clash against Corkbeg in Dungourney.
The weather was perfect and the adrenaline was pumping at kick off. Kanturk started with their usual high pressure and It didn't take long for them to go 1 up. A corner sent in took a deflection and snuck in at the near post off a Corkbeg player.
All players were struggling with the conditions on the pitch, the freshly cut grass was causing some very slippery conditions, but Kanturk battled hard and were soon 2 up thanks to an excellent finish by Michael Philpott. Kanturk had their chances to go further ahead but some heroics from Corkbegs keeper kept it at 2.
The rest of the half was a battle, the lads from Corkbeg were a big physical side that were not sitting back and 5 minutes before the break they pulled 2 quick goals back to make it 2 all.
The second half got underway and it was a physical as the first, the challenges were flying in and neither team were giving an inch.
Kanturk defended well and some last ditch challenges kept Corkbeg out until they conceded from a long range strike. Corkbeg 3 Kanturk 2.
But our lads once again showed what they are made of, the tables turned again and they were on the front foot. A driving run by Donnacha McCarthy beat 3 players and took him into the box where he was taken out, a definite penalty!
With only 5 minutes left the pressure was on! Captain for the day Danny Daly doesn't do pressure. He stepped up placed the ball and smashed it into the corner, 3 all
Corkbeg were now under pressure, our lads were hungry for a winner but time got away from them and the refs whistle blew with the final result a draw.

To the lads, I am so impressed with your attitude and resilience, you have shown again why you are still un beaten!
Player of the match today will go to Danny Daly who had a good game but showed the coolness of an ice pack with that penalty.
