An early start for this Cup tie, luckily for both teams the rain had eased off before kickoff, leaving a greasy surface to play on.
Our boys were slow out of the blocks and were soon pushed back by a very well organised and disciplined opponent. That pressure eventually told and the visitors took the lead soon afterwards and then doubled their advantage from a corner on 12 minutes to put themselves in the driving seat.
It looked curtains for our boys, but as always and to each one of our lads where immense credit is due, as they battled back with superb commitment and courage coupled with a will and desire not to lie down and instead take the game to our higher ranked opposition.
With Brian, Peter and Gavin leading from the backline, and Gavin, Conan, Jack and Blake driving forward in midfield the game slowly but surely turned in the green hoops favour.
Just reward for their endeavours came on 18mins when Conan played a clever pass to our talisman upfront Scott, who finished expertly to the bottom corner.
The game was turned on its head 5mins later when Scott again was on the scoresheet. This time however it was simply a thing of beauty. The ball broke to him 30 odd yards out, and taking it on the half volley he absolutely wellied into the top corner first time, giving the keeper a birds eye view of this thing of beauty as it flew past him.
The changes were rung from the sideline, making sure all our players had a chance to be involved. Nathan, Luke and Sean entered the fray and battled hard for every ball.
At 2-2 and halftime approaching there proved to be nothing between the teams and that is how it was at the short whistle.
More changes from the sideline with Simon and Shane coming to freshen things up.
Things in the second half to prove difficult for our boys as the Hill began to take a foothold in the proceedings again and took the game away from our warriors with 3 well taken goals. During the intervening period and swapping players on and off, including the introduction of Conor who battled hard, it was not to be our day.
Our keeper Patryk gets a special mention here, he was credit to the keepers profession and can hold his head high with a brilliant contribution to the game.
The game finished 5-2 to the visitors, our boys as always finished strong, created chances to make it tighter but alas, ran out of time and luck.
A absolutely heroic effort from our 15 lads who should be very proud of themselves, for their commitment to the cause.
We are so proud of each and every one of ye . Ye are a credit to train and manage.
