With 3 games to go top of the table Kanturk hosted Rockmount at Gurteenard this morning. Needing to win their 3 remaining games to have a chance to win the title the boys went about their business with intent and determination from the first whistle to the last. Dominating across the whole pitch the boys were ahead early and settled into their usual rhythm that had been lacking in the last two outings. The always dangerous Jamie O’Connel score a hat trick in 15 mins accompanied by Dan Duggan and Daurin Sierra who also netted we were 5 ahead at half time.
Playing into a strong wind in the second half the boys killed the game off early with a goal from Daurin Sierra. Sadly for Rockmount there was no let up as Kanturk continued to pile on the pressure with 2 more goals from Caolan O’Leary a third from Daurin to complete his hat trick, a second from Dan Duggan and a goal from Daniel Sneddon. Ethan O’Donoghue worked tirelessly all game and was rewarded with a goal.
Two games to go with Carrigtwohill who are second in the league still to play at home soon.
Huge thanks to Rockmount for their sportsmanship, they have much to be proud of.
Thanks for report Rob Sneddon
