Early start for the green machine but at least the rain had stopped and sun shone out before this fixture in Gurteenard at 10am.
Our boys were slow out of the blocks early on and it was nip and tuck early doors between both sides.
Kanturk opened the scoring from a corner on 9mins, Cian floating a lovely ball over, and Scott getting on the end of it with a smart header to the the 'Collig net.
The trick was repeated on 13mins when another Kanturk corner, this time taken from Scott, ended in Jack finishing expertly to double the lead.
The Kanturk lead was trebled on 21 mins when Blake saw his effort crash off the cross bar and fall to Conan who finished with little fuss.
With our backline of Oisin, Peter, Jack and Gavin proving inpreganble for the 'Collig a midfield trio of Conan, Brian and Ruairi bossing things in the middle and a frontline of 3 amigos of Scott, Cian and Cathal, it proved too hot to handle for the overworked 'Collig defence, we knew Kanturk were well on thier way to the last 32. 3-0 halftime score.
The second half had barely begun when our boys put 4 without reply on the scoresheet. Conor with a delightful thru ball to Scott who finished to the corner for his second goal of the game.
4 became 5 on 40mins when Scott bagged a hattrick, Cian providing the assist.
A raft of changes had been made inbetween, but the effort of all our boys was tremendous as always. Luke daly, Denis O'Brien, Conor Tassie and Bake O'Connor were all fantastic when brought on and made a great contribution to the team.
50 mins and it was 6-0, scott laying on a plate for Cathal who opened his account for the season.
The away team rounded off the scoring late on, and the scoreline read 6-1 at the final whistle.
Huge thank you to our boys for a tremendous game and some fine football.
