Our U11 boys put in a fantastic performance tonight in their Eddie Healy cup match, overcoming a difficult start to grow into the game and eventually take full control.
The opening stages were challenging, with the opposition coming out strong and putting our team under early pressure and Scoring early on. It took some time for the boys to settle, find their shape, and adjust to the tempo of the match. Some resolute defending and a few important saves helped keep us in the game during this period.
As the first half progressed, the team began to find their rhythm. Passes started to connect, movement off the ball improved, and confidence grew across the pitch. By the end of the half, it was clear the momentum had shifted and Kanturk went in at the break 3 -1 up.
The second half was a completely different story. The boys dominated proceedings, controlling possession and creating numerous chances. Their teamwork, communication, and determination were outstanding, and it was great to see them playing with such confidence and energy.
There were several superb individual performances, with players stepping up in all areas of the pitch—from solid defending at the back, to creativity in midfield, and sharp finishing up front. However, it was the collective effort and team spirit that really stood out.
Overall, a brilliant turnaround after a slow start, and a thoroughly deserved result. Well done to all the players for their hard work and attitude—this was a performance to be proud of where the boys ran out 7 -1 winners. The boys now progress to Round of 32 where they meet St. Mary's.
