On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon Kanturk AFC u16 team travelled to play Passage. Kanturk were quickly into their stride and with only 3 minutes on the clock, from a corner and then a lofted pass by Callum Thompson, Oisin Mernagh scored from close range. Two minutes later Oisin turned provider for Ryan Finn to make it 2-0. Shortly after Milosz Florczak passed to Ryan Who scored on the half volley. 3-0 after only 6 minutes.
To their credit Passage rolled up their sleeves and threw themselves into the game and stemmed the flow of goals up to the break.
Into the second half and a long ball was headed on by Conor Cremin to Milosz who fed Ryan to complete his hat trick.
20 minutes elapsed before Kanturk scored again, once more Oisin played Ryan in for goal number 4 for him.
Passage struck back to make it 1-5, before Milosz clear in on goal unselfishly
passed to Ryan for a simple tap in.
With the clock almost up, Passage won a penalty, but it was shot wide. Almost immediately Kanturk broke and were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Milosz strode up to it and smashed it home. This was the final action of this entertaining match. Final score.
Passage 1-7 Kanturk.
Under normal circumstances all the praise would go to Ryan Finn for his 5 goals, but step forward Kain O’Leary, with no goalkeeper available Kain volunteered to go in and put in a great performance.
What could have been a potential banana skin (if you know, you know) with many players missing turned into a valuable 3 points.
Thanks to all our players and supporters for travelling and to Passage for hosting.
