Kanturk AFC u14 welcomed Avondale Utd to Gurteenard Saturday morning.
Most of the Kanturk boys had spent Friday night in the Hi-Land and were very sluggish to start and found themselves 1-0 down after a minute. But then Donnacha Loughlin sent in a high ball and Ronan Weathers got the luck of the bounce to equalise.
Kanturk then conceded a penalty which was converted.
A free kick was won shortly after and Ronan Weathers curled it onto the top corner. Then just on the stroke of half time Ross O’Callaghan scored a fine solo goal firing in from outside the box.
3-2 at half time but Avondale had been the better team. The first goal in the second half would be crucial and it was to be the Turks who got it. Fionn Mernagh threaded a pass to Timmy Kelleher who finished in style.
Donnacha then played Denis McCarthy in to fire into the net. Kanturk were now playing some lovely football. Denis scored again and Ronan completed his hat trick.
Conor Cashman then completed the scoring from close range.
